For now we offering the following for the rear of BYD Shark :

  • Coil Springs
  • Camber Lock sets – prevent wheel alignment issues
  • Braced Lower Control Arms

The springs in the rear of the Shark are mid way along the control arms. This means there is virtually double the stress on them through leverage. This leverage makes for a softer ride but it does present a few problems.

Fitting coils in a tight radius control arm, especially half way along the arm is frought with danger and should only be tackled by trained workshops with the right gear. I fear that if people try this at home they will either get hurt or find them selves with a half finished job in their driveway unable to even get the factory coils back in.

The added strain of a coil half way along the control arm makes the arm prone to bending. The Y62 Patrol is larger with less leverage and that bends so at AAA we have developed a similar braced arm kit.

Already we have seen wheel aligning camber pins spin and wheel alignments fail on the Shark. AAA has developed a camber lock set that prevent the pins from spinning once set in place.
