The AAA Coil Delete Kit is a suspension upgrade designed specifically for all Y62 Patrol models. Manufactured by us in Australia and backed by our extensive 4WD expertise, this kit ensures constant ride height with excellent comfort and superior handling regardless of load or terrain.
Imagine this: you’re fully loaded and towing your caravan across the Simpson Desert. Your vehicle’s ride height remains perfectly level, just as it was when you were driving to the shops back home. There’s no unnecessary tyre wear, and the ride is still smoother and more comfortable than the factory setup.
Why Choose the AAA Coil Delete Kit?
- Constant Ride Height:
Achieve a consistent ride height no matter the load—whether towing a caravan, carrying passengers, or driving unloaded it’s always the same height. Unlike heavy coils, this system maintains optimal alignment, improving handling, fuel economy, and tire longevity. - Softer Ride:
Provides a softer-than-factory ride without sacrificing the ability to handle the heaviest loads. Perfect for towing or off-road touring. If you have been quoted heavier coils – ask how they propose to make heavier coils soft again when not loaded or towing… the point is they can’t. Only air bags can have varied load abilities. - Improved Performance:
Experience enhanced stability even in tough off-road conditions. When your wheel alignment is out the wearing out of tyres is because they are scraping sideways along the road so you don’t really have that much traction. By maintaining wheel alignment you optimise safety through added traction as well as save your tyres. - Peace of Mind:
AAA Coil Delete don’t sag under extreme loads like heavy coils with inserts still do. And they won’t sag over time.
Not prone to leaking or falling apart like coil inserts do.
Your investment is protected by AAA rated 10 year warranty even against leaks and all parts can be purchased individually if you want a spare part or need support beyond warranty period.
AAA’s auto levelling system:
Our Auto Ride Height Kit features pneumatic valves as used in the truck industry. A valve body is mounted to the chassis K frame on each side using the hand brake cable bolt so no drilling required. There’s a swing arm that’s attached to your lower rear control arm. It senses the height over a given wheel. When too low (loaded) the arm position lets air into the bag on that side and it inflates. When too tall (unloaded) the arm lets air out of the bags. The whole system is entirely automated which is how the engineers like it. There’s a tolerance in the middle which allows minor up and down such as discrete road undulations and corrugations etc without inflating or deflating occurring. There is an adjustable link rod the installer can lengthen and shorten so you can set your ideal ride height on each side. And it’s at that position you get your wheel alignment done.
GVM Upgrade Options:
The operational aspect of the AAA kit is approved in its complete form. All the critical components used in this kit have undergone specific engineering testing. Not just the bags but also the control arms, the tanks, the duty cycle of the compressor along with swerve and brake testing. As such the kit has to be fitted the way we specify in the instructions, components can not be left out nor be substituted. These tests have been documented and registered nationally so engineers all over Australia can rely upon these and not have to do the testing themselves.
You need to appoint an engineer – we have one in Vic and can assist with interstate recommendations. We can supply the necessary documentation and the engineer will need to see your car on a hoist to check it out and take pics. Shortly after you receive your blue plate and engineer sticker in the mail with instructions where to fit. Then you book the car in with your state’s road registration authority for them to check and finalise the upgrade.
In Vic we offer 3830 Kg GVM by doing just the rear with this coil delete kit. By also doing heavier coils and upper control arms in the front we can increase this to 4000 Kg still at factory height or we can do 2″ lifts with our extreme duty lower control arms at 4200Kg. Refer to pricing below which spells out what’s involved for each.
With our GVM testing data you can run factory tyres and wheels up to and including 4000 Kg. The 4200 Kg GVM requires heavier tyres and wheels. Also in all our GVM options you can go up to 295 in size.
Large Twin-Head Compressor:
AAA’s large CX10 Twin Head Compressor is 10 x faster than its smaller predecessor and excellent at inflating tyres or blowing dust out of the vehicle and generates less noise too. The CX10 comes with mounting hardware and sits vertically behind the grill next to the left side headlight. It doesn’t impact air flow and fits with or without a bull bar or winch.
Our twin head compressor is one of the fastest compressors on the market especially under load. This makes it ideal for pumping up tyres. The kit comes with a Nitto fitting for pumping up tyres and when we fit your kit we throw in a free tyre inflation hose.
Integrated Air Tank:
When lowered the sensors call for air and that could even be a momentary hard dip in the road. Rather than trigger the compressor for a split second it’s better to have the air come from a tank. With a tank the compressor only starts periodically to recharge the tank and coupled with our large CX10 compressor that only takes about 2 seconds.
We also have larger tank options.
4WD Mode:
AAA have developed a patch harness that plugs to the back of the 4WD switch in the Centre Console. Coupled with a Change Over Relay and electronic valves the air to and from each of the bags can is blocked when 4WD Hi or Lo is engaged. Now you can tackle the ruts or undulating beaches without the auto ride height trying to compensate all the time. By its very nature this is 4WD Use Only. When you go back to 2WD the valves re-open and the auto ride height system is live again. Rather than an add on it meant a different way we set things up so it is now a part of every kit we sell.
Braced Factory Lower Control Arms – LCA:
The base kit comes without lower control arms as it bolts to factory arms as well as billet arms. The plate spans almost the entire length of the arm so we have never ever had a factory arm suffer with our coil delete kit. If you are not seeking a GVM upgrade then not getting our LCA is an opportunity to save money. GVM upgrades do require LCA upgrade and so it’s an option when you check out. At factory height or no lift the LCA you need can be these Braced Factory Arms. If you are running a 2″ lift then you need our Extreme Duty Arms (below)
Locking Camber Pins
The Y62 is prone to taking itself out of alignment. Hitting speed bumps hard will do it as well as pot holes and corrugations. We replace your factory wheel alignment camber pins to locking camber pins if we fit your kit. The Camber Pin is an off set bolt and when rotated it lengthens or shortens an arm – it is how your wheel alignemnt adjustments are done. The locking camber pins hold fast and maintain your alignment. There are 4 pins in the rear and they are only $50 each and no additional fitting charge if done when fitting the coil delete kit.
Extreme Duty Lower Control Arms (XDLCA) – only for 2″ lifts
If you are going for a 2″ lift then you need AAA’s Extreme Duty LCA. These have recently passed FEA testing and will form part of our new 4200 Kg GVM – Australia wide post reg.
When the Y62 is lifted to 2” the rear hub rotates backwards and causes the LCA to lean to the back. Pushing down from above onto an arm that already has a lean backwards can force the arm to lean even further and create problems with bushes. It’s a situation only prone to 2″ lifted vehicles but even then it’s only the heavier ones and only in rugged pounding terrain. Not every 2″ lifted rig has the problems – its a bit like smoking – not every smoker gets lung cancer but it tends to only be smokers who do.
These lifted rigs that are heavy need the bags more than anyone else so it’s a market we needed to accommodate. Enter from stage left – AAA’s Extreme Duty Lower Control Arms for 2″ lift.
The LCA needs to compensate for the arm to be leaning upwards with a lift and also needs to factor in the caster rotation. The AAA Extreme Duty LCA not only factors the caster tilt back to being level but moves the bottom of the air bag to below the magic line between inner and outer bush and as such is no longer pushing down from above but now pulling down from below – a bit like a hammock and the more you push down the more it wants to straighten and not roll over.
But wait there’s more – The Y62 arms are not at 90 degrees to the K frame – Jump under and sight along one to the other. Each has a 35mm deviation pointing towards the back – that’s called YOR. When fitting normal arms the installer has to mount the K frame end first then pull the arm back against the will of that rubber bush. It is no wonder those poor bushes struggle. Our new XD LCA factor that YOR in by adjusting the angle of the K Frame bush so that the bushes are relaxed. No other arm does this – not even factory nissan arms. If one arm does either left or right sides it can not possbly factor this in. The AAA XDLCA already has a different left vs right arm so why not also get the angles right while we were at it. So before you by another brand ask them if it matters what side each arm goes in.
A new set of longer top mounts accompany the Extreme Duty LCA. As an added bonus we made it so the bag is shorter (less tall) at 2″ lift so it is even softer than before.
Here are some interesting stats when we developed the XDLCA – the engineer said they must sustain 150% of what the vehicle can exert – that figure is unknown so we set out to break a factory arm and use that as our starting point. In our workshop press a factory arm using our regular lower bag plate as a foot print did not bend at all but the eyes tore out of the hub end at 8T. Goes to show how much stronger our regular base plate makes them. So our target is 12T. The first test model went to 21T. The engineer was like stop there you only need 12T but I cant help it in my strive for perfection. We changed the design just a bit and can now get to 30T and that is per arm. Beyond that we start braking our jigs and mounting frames. For the FEA approval we had the welds analysed in that arm that broke at 21T
If you already have our Coil Delete kit no matter who you purchased it through we can supply and instal a set of XDLCA through our dealer network as an upgrade and offer a 50% parts price discount. Already we have customers selling second hand billet arms to get these and they are coming out in front. We can also fit new bushes to their old arms to help them sell them.
These are not yet available in standard height. They are deemed not needed at factory height unlike 2″ lifts but if enough people just want super strong arms then register your interest and we can develop them.
Braided Lines:
The kits now comes with a braided line that runs from the compressor out the front all the way to the tank at the rear. The large compressor only runs for a few seconds so no internal heat generated and now it can also cope with external ambient heat.
Side Clearance Indicators for GVM:
If you are seeking a GVM you will need ADR compliant Cat 6 side clearance indicators. The concept being that heavier vehicles tend to be longer and other vehicles in lanes beside you need to see that you are indicating. With a GVM upgrade we are not getting longer so makes no sense but it’s the rules. They need to be Cat 6 type which means clear lens but shine amber when on.
You can do this your self or get us to do it. The most popular option are the Clear View towing mirrors with Cat 6 indicators. Customers are getting these colour matched and fitted before their GVM. We can supply and fit them also.
A less expensive option is the side indicator light that can be mounted to the front fender just below the V8 badge
Durability You Can Trust:
Our air bags have been installed in thousands of Y62 Patrols and 4WD vehicles, covering millions of kilometres in Australia’s toughest environments—without a single puncture. It’s reassuring to know you can plug a puncture with a tyre string and AAA will replace it when you get home under their 10 year warranty program but for what it’s worth – it is yet to happen. Trucks, trains, buses and trams run on bags – even planes land on them.
Steve has been selling bags for all sorts of cars since the 90’s and has over 250,000 bags out there being used. Maybe only 3-4 customers per year call to ask about buying a replacement and it’s only because they had an incident like a fire or an accident. No one ever worries about the spare tyre underneath getting a puncture yet it is a lot more exposed and the rubber in our bags is heavier than the sidewalls of a tyre.
Installation:
The AAA Coil Delete Kit is designed for bolt-on installation using existing factory mounting points. No drilling, cutting, or welding is required, making it a straightforward upgrade. We have workshops in most states. Workshops allow 16 hours for installation. We make the assumption the installer has a hoist, a mechanical aptitude, a basic knowledge of how relays work and most importantly read and follow instructions.
Prices:
In our workshop an installation takes 2 full days. Below prices include GST and are an indication to help set your expectations. Rates and times assume we are doing the job in house. Other workshops will have their own workshop rates.
You can do this done in affordable stages if that helps.

Passionate About Patrols:
At AAA Suspension, our passion for Nissan Patrols runs deep. Within our team we race three off-road race Patrols. Steve’s GQ was among the very first to have a LS1 conversion when it was just 4 years old and guess what – that project involved Andy (now On Track) and Mark French (Mark’s Adaptors) so our connections go way back. Steve runs the Cliffhanger 4×4 Event and Justin runs the Ultimate 4×4 Challenge and with Jason we’ve collectively competed in about 25 Outback Challenges—all in Patrols. You’d be hard-pressed to find a team more dedicated and experienced with Patrols in the industry. Our firsthand experience ensures that you’re getting products developed by enthusiasts who truly understand your needs.
