This is 1pr of Cat 6 Side Indicator lights.
CAT 6 indicators are mandatory for light goods vehicles over 6.0 meters in length, and for all medium goods vehicles with a GVM between 3.5 and 4.5 tons. These are required if your GVM exceeds 3.5 tons and you have 7 or fewer seats. The rules make allowances for classifications and weights associated with seating capacities. For instance a vehicle with 3.8 GVM and 8 seats does not require these but with 7 or fewer seats does need them. (We dont make the rules…)
CAT 6 indicators are brighter than CAT 5 indicators, have a clear lens design, must shine Amber and be seen from the side and to the rear.
The objective of the rule is so larger heavier vehicles can be seen to be wanting to turn or change lanes by a vehicle beside or slightly back and would not otherwise see the rear indicators.
- There is no left or right – they are both the same. Mount so the LED’s face the rear of the vehicle.
- These will attach to any vehicle. They are generic and are not specific to a certain type of vehicle.

Left or right hand mountable. Drill 10mm hole into flat surface and mount horizontally to the ground with 3M Tape and serrated plug. You will need to connect the plug to side indicator power for each side. LEDs must be facing the rear of the vehicle. For detailed legal requirements for where to mount refer to ADR 13/00 Appendix A Clause 6.5.4 – Installation of Light Signaling Devices – Position.
Some side mirrors come with side indicators – these are permissable if rated Cat 6 meaning they are clear and shine amber when operated. Some brands come with Cat 5 and offer upgrades to Cat 6.
